Sudan Clashes: The Sudanese army deploys its heavy machinery in the streets of Khartoum and calls on its residents to stay at home.

The Sudanese army called on residents in the capital, Khartoum, to stay in their homes and stay away from windows, while deploying tanks and other artillery pieces, despite the existence of a truce.

The rival RSF says the army is widening the conflict by deploying the Central Reserve Police - a unit notorious for its brutality against civilians in Khartoum - to lend a hand.

Air strikes and artillery shelling rocked the capital, Khartoum, on Saturday, as fighting in Sudan between the army and the Rapid Support Forces entered its third week, prompting more civilians to flee, and renewing warnings of widening instability if the war did not stop.

On Saturday evening, violent clashes and explosions were heard near the center of Khartoum, the army headquarters and the presidential palace.

Because of the fighting in Khartoum and other Sudanese cities, thousands have fled for their lives. The United Nations warns that it will need to be prepared to help the hundreds of thousands of people who may flee the country.

Meanwhile, regional and international efforts are continuing to stop the fighting and bring the two warring parties to the dialogue table. The South Sudanese government has said it is still trying to convene peace talks between representatives of the two sides.

A UN envoy had earlier given a glimmer of hope for a halt to the fighting when he said the warring parties, which have so far shown no sign of Sudan has now become more open to negotiations and settlements between the government and the two coups, although no prior date has been set for this matter.

And leave Sudan and its people as a victim among friends, the Sudanese army forces and the Sudanese rapid reaction forces.
